Badlands/Wall,SD

Well we finally left home on 8/27 in the PM. We drove till 7:00PM and stayed in Walmart in Waterloo,IA. On Thursday we drove all day to get to Wall,SD. We had forgotten how tacky Wall Drug is.
Today we visited Minuteman Missile NHS and Badlands NP. The tour at Minuteman takes you 30 feet down to a hardened launch facility operational from 1963-1993 when the SALT Treaty was signed. They show you how those guys with the keys and codes lived. You also get to look down at a missile still in it's silo. No warhead, of course.
The Badlands were beautiful. We did a few short hikes. Saw Bison(don't call them buffalo!), Pronghorn Antelope, and thousands of Prairie Dogs. Geri took tons of pictures .
Tomorrow it's on to Grand Teton andYellowstone NPs.

Preparation

We are nearly done preparing the RV for the trip. It now looks like we will leave on August 28 so that we can see the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, and Devil's Tower on our way to Yellowstone NP. The time has been flying by. We have been spending as much time as possible with the grandkids . Our present plan is to fly home for a few days in mid-October (probably from Las Vegas) so Geri can get her kid fix.
